Big shout out to all our friends from the dance schools as well… you are all amazing and we love working with you. Seeing those little dancers mature and grow in talent from year to year is a truly rewarding experience.
As we have said before, it is a TON of work with long demanding hours, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. We appreciate all of you and your staff for their organization and assistance with photo week.
And of course, a HUGE thank you to our road crew, Stacey, Laura & Amy… you ladies are amazing and we couldn’t tackle these large groups without you. It’s been a heck of a ride these last several week… we are still shaking the glitter out of our shoes… 😉
Happy Spring! 🙂
April 1st… 35 years ago, a wild-eyed, ambitious Debbie Daanen purchased a little portrait business with no plan, no money and no idea where her decision that day would lead…
That’s right; April Fool’s Day marks Debbie Daanen Photography’s 35th anniversary of years in business!
I would like to be the first to congratulate my friend, mentor and partner in both business and shenanigans, Debbie, a very happy work-iversary! I have had the privilege and honor to work along side you for the last 15 years and have seen first hand what a true creative genius you are. We have been through just about everything imaginable together, personally and professionally, and I can not imagine it any other way!
In 35 years, we have seen it all… the comings and goings of photography businesses, products and trends… gone through the critical industry changes from film to digital… the rise and fall of the economy and so on… When this day rolls around each year, we are able to reflect on what a difference a year can make and add up all 35 of them, and we have quite the collection of treasured memories and hilarious stories!
We say it all the time, but no time is more appropriate than today: THANK YOU!
Thank you to our clients, old and new. We obviously could not have had continued success all this time without you. It is a true pleasure to serve you. Thank you to those reading this…for caring enough, not only about our business, but about us, as people.
Thank you to our friends and families, who no matter how crazy our ideas seemed, continue to support us. It is not an easy road to make a living in the arts, and we certainly appreciate your encouragement.
Thank you to our DDP Road Crew (Stacey, Laura, Amy, Barb & Cindy)- the collection of our friends that are willing to help out at the craziest of photo shoots and event; that always says ‘yes,’ no matter how odd or overwhelming the request.
Thank you, of course, to our staff, Laurie & Stacey, we literally could not do it without you two! To Bob & Dave – for all the support over the years, for sharing your knowledge and equipment, and for helping us out on all those large photo shoots where we require an extra set of photographers!
Thank you to all the groups and organizations, companies, schools and sports leagues that we have photographed over the years. There are far too many of you to list, but your continued business and friendships mean the world to us.
To anyone else whom I might have missed… Thank you. We just want to tell you from the bottom of our hearts, that we appreciate you and thank you for your continued business! We love what we do and have been lucky enough to do it for 35 amazing years!
In closing… Debbie, your hard work and persistence has obviously paid off and you have been nothing less than an amazing example to me and everyone around you. Happy 35th work-iversary! …Here’s to many more!!! 😉
As we kick off another work week, another dance school is upon us… this time spending the week with the lovely ladies of the Heart of the Valley Dance Academy in Kaukauna.
We have known this family of ladies and dancers for so many years, it is a true pleasure to work with them year after year.
Because of our intense photo schedule, we have very limited studio hours this time of year. We suggest calling ahead before you stop in, just to ensure that one of us is here to assist you. We are out early most afternoons due to our photography sessions.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience. Thank you and have a super day! 🙂
As many of you know, we photograph a lot of local dance schools… and we have just kicked off our dance season! This week marks our first dance school of the season – the Appleton Parks and Rec Unity Dance Academy, in downtown Appleton.
It is always a wonderful time oohing and ahhing over the adorable costumes and getting see all the familiar faces we remember from years past. We have the wonderful opportunity to work so closely with the fantastic staff of our DDP dance schools year after year and truly can call these ladies our friends. Shout out to all those putting in the long hours with us this week!
Dance school photography is certainly a labor intensive endeavor for us, and we certainly could not do this without the trust we have built with these clients and of course the assistance of our group photographer, Stacey and our DDP Road Crew Amy & Laura. We can not thank you enough for your continued dedication.
We sing and dance (not well) along side these kids during the week and have a ton of laughs along the way and would not trade the memories made each year for anything… it makes all the hard work we put in worth while. When we talk with a parent who explains how they look forward to photo week each year, we can only reply with; that is indeed the reason we do what we do, and love doing it.
If anyone has a dance school in need of photography, please contact the studio- we would love to chat with you about our program. It’s a win/win for everyone!
Unity Dance – we are having a great time with you as usual!!! Lisa and staff – you are amazing.
So as we sit mid week of our first dance school of the season- ‘Dance like no one is watching’ because we certainly do and can only hope no one is watching… 😉
