So this happened today...
So this happened today… ![]()
It was a very sad, bittersweet day here at the studio. We knew this was coming—we just didn’t know when (and expected we would get some warning beforehand, which we did not).
To make a long story short, the city has annexed our backyard space to build a retention pond. The pond is being constructed to help solve a recurring flooding issue that occurs in the streets behind the studio property and the surrounding area. ![]()
Once the pond is completed, the area should once again become a beautiful, usable green space. We do still have an outdoor area to use—it’s just significantly smaller. However, with all the mud, heavy equipment, and chainsaw noise, we’ll be limiting the number of sessions that take place on-site for a little while.
In the meantime, any sessions booked for our studio outdoor space will be relocated to an alternative park or outdoor location at no extra charge.
It was certainly heartbreaking to watch our beautiful yard, with its decades-old trees, come tumbling down and see the spaces we worked so hard to create and care for over so many years disappear in a matter of minutes. But we’ve been preparing for this. New portrait areas have already been created along the sides of the building, and our minds are working overtime, dreaming up even more ways to make the most of our new space. ![]()
After all, we are nothing if not adaptable.
So here’s to a new month and big changes. Welcome, August! ![]()
